Israel celebrates 76 years of Independence!
Independence Day ceremonies are being held in communities across the country featuring speeches, musical performances and fireworks, with the main event taking place on Mount Herzl in Jerusalem where members of the government and invited dignitaries launch the celebrations on national television – one of the most widely watched events in the country each year.
Tuesday, May 14, 2024, is a national holiday with Israelis by the millions expected to enjoy the good weather to hold barbecue picnics, go on nature hikes and visit museums and beaches.
A highlight of the day is a national flyover by Israel Air Force jets and aircraft that traverse the country flying over dozens of towns and cities, while the Israel Navy will parade some of its fleet along the Mediterranean coast, with a special sail-by off the beaches of Tel Aviv.
Song for Israel will celebrate with a Walk for Israel Tuesdayy, May 14th meeting at the Blue Agave Restaurant parking lot (please don’t park too close to the restaurant- we don’t want to interfere with their dinner hour by taking up too many spaces close by). Join us as we walk Yorba Linda Blvd., carrying Israeli flags and signs in support of Israel and their Independence Day! It is a light 40-minute walk. Wear blue and white and bring a flag or sign if you have one.
Meet in the Blue Agave Restaurant parking lot at 5:10 pm, at 18601 Yorba Linda Blvd., Yorba Linda, California. Optional dinner at the Blue Agave Restaurant following the walk. Children are welcome when accompanied with an adult.
