Obama’s Feet Will Touch Holy Ground in Two Days
In an article from Townhall Magazine March 17, 2013, columnist Kevin McCullough tells of his recent visit to Israel. While there, he was asked, "What do you think President Obama will do when he visit's Israel next week?" His response may surprise you. He said: "What I hope President Obama will do on his visit here... is to listen twice as much as he speaks.”
That is what this columnist found himself doing while in Israel…Listening. He listened to politicians raise concern over Iran; he heard a member of Knesset share and “beam with pride over Israel's explosion in start-up technology businesses;” he heard several raise concern over the safety of those living in “settlements” on the West bank and keeping Palestinian and Jewish communities safe; he listened to some take pride in their booming agricultural industry; he listened to CEO’s of Israel’s very successful medical technology firms; and most interesting, he listened to the heart of the people.
His closing remarks in his article read: “Listen twice as much as you speak Mr. President! Your mind, heart, and soul just be surprised by something you had not expected. Israel is our most important ally in the region, but their heart and ours beat almost as one. And in us listening to them we might learn more than we believed we could!”
The Flag of Israel
Over the past several months, there has been much speculation about President Obama’s visit to Israel. In preparation, the President has been meeting with Palestinian leaders and Israeli leaders (separately) on our soil. In a previous article posted February 7th, Song For Israel encouraged you to pray about this trip. Listed below are the three prayer requests we previously mentioned. Now, we add a fourth. Please pray with us:
- Please pray for this meeting of our leaders that it would be a positive visit. Pray for a healing in the prickly relationship between Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Obama. Pray that Obama gains empathy for the pressures the Israelis live under
- Pray that President Obama hears the people of Israel and learns who our strongest allies are in the Middle East
- Pray that God visits Obama and puts on his heart the importance of supporting this nation
- Pray for wisdom of both leaders as they try to sort out the threatening issues surrounding Israel. Pray that they can develop a strategic understanding of how to proceed with the Iran and Palestinian issues
