Israeli Children Killed in Strike by Hezbollah
When I first heard the news that a rocket had landed in Majdal Shams on Saturday evening, I immediately contacted Thomas Winder (one of Song For Israel's partners) to be sure he was okay. He responded that children had been killed on a soccer field with many more injured. I didn't have details yet but Thomas said that they needed prayer. He said there were "rivers of tears. You can't imagine the carnage."
Later I was able to find more information in the news. The deadly rocket attack that killed 12 children and youth (ages 10-20) came from Hezbollah, in solidarity with Hamas. Hezbollah aimed at children playing soccer on a soccer field. More than 32 others remain injured (with six in serious condition). This village in the Golan Heights is called Majdal Shams (near the northern border of Lebanon). It is a Druze village. They are not Jewish and not Arab but are loyal Israeli citizens.
This attack has been described as the deadliest attack against Israel since October 7th. How will Israel respond? Hezbollah has fired thousands of rockets, missiles and UAV's on civilians -- targeting families, homes, and children in Israel. Will this turn into an official all-out war with Hezbollah (backed by Iran)? The military leaders are assessing a response at this time. Prime Minister Netanyahu hurried home after a visit to the USA (he addressed our congress), to discuss Israel's response.
Please pray for the families who have lost children in this brutal attack. Pray for those injured, for full healing. Pray for those in the village who have been psychologically impacted by PTSD. And then, please pray about supporting our bomb shelter program to save lives in Israel. Click here for more information.
