Israel Prepares for Possible Evacuation of Ukrainian Jews
Tensions are rising in Ukraine/Russia and the Israeli government has begun laying the groundwork for an evacuation of Ukrainian Jews if needed, as the threat level increases. There is fear of a Russian invasion into Ukraine.
There are likely around 75,000 Jews living in Ukraine who would qualify for citizenship in Israel through the Law of Return. The majority of them are living near the cities of Odessa, Kyiv, Kharkiv and Dnipropetrovsk. The evacuation is not forced but for those who want to live in Israel.
Should a war break out, Israel is not even sure if an evacuation would be possible, but they are preparing at any rate.
Meanwhile, the United States and several European countries have instructed families of diplomats living in Ukraine to leave.
Please pray for the leaders in Israel for wisdom, as well as praying for leaders in Russia and Ukraine.
