Israeli forces on the Gaza Border

Since Sunday night, hundreds of rockets have been fired into Israel by the Iranian-backed Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) terror militia. The rockets are being fired indiscriminately in the general direction of Israeli communities, including major cities like Beer Sheva and Tel Aviv but also including small farming communities like Sderot near the Gaza-Israel border.

Early Tuesday morning, the Israeli Defense Force assassinated Baha Abu al-Ata, commander of the Iran-backed Palestinian terrorist group Islamic Jihad.

 The IDF conducted a number of retaliatory strikes in Gaza throughout the day as the rocket launches persisted. Red alerts are continuing to sound today as rockets pound the border.

There is a concern that terrorist groups will try to break through the border and attack nearby communities so the IDF is deploying forces around these communities and on the border.

 Israel is preparing in case there is further escalation. The PIJ is not interested in negotiations at this time.
