Tel Aviv Bus Bombing Today

November 21, a bomb exploded on a Tel Aviv bus, injuring at least 21 people. There were eyewitnesses who reported that terrorists climbed on the bus, placed a bomb there and then fled the scene. The bombing took place on one of Tel Aviv’s main thoroughfares and sent bystanders running for safety. The BBC reports that Hamas claimed responsibility for the bombing and the was a banner on Hamas TV saying: “overwhelming joy” and reported celebrations over the bus bombing. However there seem to be contradictory reports as we are hearing that Fatah (the party of Palestinian leader Abbas) may have been involved. Regardless of who is responsible for planting this bomb, Hamas is joyfully taking the credit.

These attacks against innocent Israeli civilians are outrageous. The United States will stand with our Israeli allies, and provide whatever assistance is necessary to identify and bring to justice the perpetrators of this attack. The United States reaffirms our unshakeable commitment to Israel’s security and our deep friendship and solidarity with the Israeli people.”
