Operation Lifeshield Briefing
Song for Israel has been collecting donations to build a bomb shelter in Israel and partnering with Operation Lifeshield. Below is an update from them:
Israel Defense Forces exchanged fire with terrorists who fired mortar shells at Israel Sunday evening (Israel Daylight Time) near Kerem Shalom, on the border with Gaza.
The IDF has warned residents of the Eshkol Region to stay indoors and remain on high alert. In addition, civilians are asked to stay off of Road 232, the main highway connecting the south with the rest of the country. In addition to the Kerem Shalom situation, dozens of rockets were fired at the area of Sderot in an intense barrage. There have been no reports of casualties.
According to one eye witness, "We were asked to immediately evacuate to fortified spaces. At the moment, people are locking themselves indoors. We can still hear the explosions. My children were at their friends and I was in the dining room with my wife and younger son. I had to go looking for them," he added.
Operation Lifeshield recently deployed a Bell Shelter to the community of Talmei Yosef - which is currently under rocket attack.
Yours truly,
Shmuel Bowman, Executive Director Operation Lifeshield
