Can You Say that God's Hand is Upon You?
Do you ever wonder why you work so hard and try to live a good life, but you don’t see yourself getting ahead? Does that make you try even hard to attain “the good life,” but not make any difference? Do you wonder if God’s hand is even on you? When looking to solve life’s’ problems, it is best to look at someone who has had success in the area in which you struggle. In the Bible, you will find that “the hand of the Lord was on Ezra.” In Ezra, chapter 7, you will find reasons that “the hand of the Lord his God was upon him” (v. 6). First a little background.
Ezra was among those exiled to Babylon. When God stirred the heart of the King of Babylon to decree that the temple be rebuilt and that anyone wanting to return to Jerusalem to help rebuild, could go! Ezra was among those whose hearts were stirred.
Twice in Ezra 7, we are told that “the good hand of his God was upon him.” Why? V. 10 answers that question and tells us that “Ezra had set his heart to study the law of the Lord and to practice it, and to teach His statutes and ordinances in Israel.” Verse 25 goes on to say that Ezra had the wisdom of God.
I want the good hand of the Lord upon me. I believe God is calling His people to “set their hearts” to studying God’s Word and to practice it! We are living in tough days, but I believe when we put God first in our lives, we will see the “good hand of the Lord our God” upon us!
