Jerusalem Fire Destroyed a Biblical Harp Workshop
A few weeks ago Song For Isarel posted an article about a fire raging out of control in the northern hilly area of Jerusalem. The fire destroyed a Biblical Harp Workshop and gallery of 40 years. For decades they built the Biblical harps of David according to the information gathered from the Bible, archaeology and the ancient Jewish writings. They are Israel’s national instrument and one of the recognizable symbols of Israel.
On our tours to Israel Song For Israel visits The Temple Institute in the Old City of Jerusalem where many of the harps built by Micah and Shoshanna Harrari, the owners of the workshop, have been collected. They were prepared for the future temple but are enjoyed now by anyone visiting the museum.
There are hopes to rebuild the workshop and to bring King David Harps back in an even better way. Watch this video to hear the sounds of the David Harp and see what happened to the workshop.
