Children in Israel Run for Cover

An entire generation of children has been traumatized by the terror of ongoing rocket attacks in Israel. With only 15 seconds to find cover, lives are in jeopardy.

Children near the Gaza border and Syrian border must run into a bomb shelter during rocket attacks from Hamas but there are not enough shelters at every school.

This is everyday life for children living near the borders in Israel – and it shouldn’t be! Please watch this quick video.

Israel is now experiencing rockets and missiles coming from the Gaza border and also at their northern Syrian border. To help save lives in Israel, please donate to our bomb shelter project. We have already placed two shelters in Israel and are collecting donations to have a third one placed. Please click here to find out more or to donate. Then click below to share this video.

Israeli Defense Troops Deployed to All Borders

Israel is being threatened at all of her borders and is now on high alert. Israel's Defense Force (IDF) has increased the presence of both active duty and reservists to protect the country's borders. General Yehiel Gozal says, “If this situation doesn’t quickly get under control, it is likely that a war will develop.”

40,000 Palestinians have been rioting at Israel’s southern Gaza border. 62 rioters have been killed by IDF forces and at least 2,000 have been injured. Gaza has proudly announced that of those killed, 50 were members of the Hamas terror group. International media report that the Palestinians were holding peaceful protests, but videos of the riots portray a different picture.

For over a month, rioters have set tires ablaze, planted bombs, flown kites that were on fire into Israel, destroying Israeli fields. They have hurled firebombs, Molotov cocktails, and stones at IDF troops. Palestinians directed machine gun fire from Gaza at IDF aerial vehicles. Several residences in the Israeli border town of Sderot were hit. Sderot is where Song For Israel placed its first bomb shelter.

Last month representatives from Song For Israel were on the Gaza border. We picked wheat in a field bordering Gaza as we viewed smoke from burning kites in the background. Shmuel Bowman, Director of Operation Lifeshield, created the video below. Song For Israel partners with Operation Lifeshield in saving lives by placing bomb shelters on Israel's borders. Please watch the video and then consider partnering with us to save lives in Israel.

International Holocaust Remembrance Day

Although much of today's world rejects the notion that the Holocaust even occurred, the truth is kept alive and history is acknowledged during the annual International Holocaust Remembrance Day. It is a sad day as many still have memories of the evils done to family members and friends. Still others question how such evil could be allowed to occur in our world. But it did happen.

Eva Beem

When I visited the Simon Wiesenthal Center (California) with some friends, I was given a little card with the name and picture of a little girl who lived during the Holocaust. Eva Beem was a darling girl from The Netherlands. She came from a normal family where her father was a high school teacher in Northern Holland. The Jews of The Netherlands were well-integrated into the general population and they were active in all aspects of the country's social, cultural and economic life.

Eva was eight years old when the Germans invaded her town, separated the Jews from the rest of the population, and forced them into restricted ghetto areas. Eva's parents decided they would go into hiding, hoping their children would be safer posing as non-Jews in a rural village. They found a Christian family willing to risk death to save them. Eva was given a new name and identity and attended school with others from the village.

The Nazis realized that many Jewish children had been sent into hiding and therefore intensified their search. Eleven-year old Eva and her brother Abraham were arrested and ultimately deported to Auschwitz Concentration Camp in Poland. Both were murdered upon their arrival.

Eva was one of 1.5 million Jewish children murdered by the Germans and their collaborators during the Holocaust.

Today, Israel and the Jewish people are still targets. Their neighbors in Iran chant "Death to Israel" and "Drive them into the Sea." It is horrible to think such things still take place, but another Holocaust could happen. Satan would like nothing more than to defeat God's plan for Israel.

Western Wall Demonstrations

Four years ago, an agreement was made to formally recognize an egalitarian prayer section of the Western Wall in Jerusalem. However, this past Sunday, condemnations and recriminations erupted after there was an indefinite suspension of this agreement.

Song For Israel Board members, Deby Brown and Jeanette Johns, on a busy street corner in Jerusalem, met with several protesters who were displaying banners holding smaller signs carried by individuals to raise awareness of their disappointment in the indefinite suspension of the egalitarian prayer section of the Western Wall.  Song for Israel Board members, Deby Brown and Jeanette Johns, on a busy street corner in Jerusalem, met with several protesters who were displaying banners and holding smaller signs to raise awareness of their disappointment in the indefinite suspension of the egalitarian prayer section of the Western Wall.

One woman (who did not want her picture taken nor her name mentioned) said that without this agreement implemented, it meant that when her son is old enough for his Bar Mitzvah that she will be unable to be part of the ceremony as it will occur only on the men’s portion of the Western Wall Plaza. To view this lifetime achievement of her son, she will have to stand on a plastic chair to peer over the barrier to watch. She reported that in the past year ten women have been injured because the cheap chairs have fallen over as they tried to view a family member's Bar Mitzvah.

Currently at the Western Wall Plaza, there is a men’s section and a women’s section - and without the agreement being implemented, things will remain as they have been – divided. It continues to be gender separated, even though Orthodox customs are not defined in Israeli law.  The reinstatement of The Western Wall Agreement would define the law, providing a place for men and women (boys and girls) to be together in a designated area.

US Firefighters "Dropped Everything" to Fight Fires in Israel

39 firefighters gave up their Thanksgiving weekend to help Israel in their fire crisis.  Seven of the 39 are Jewish, but all of them share a love for Israel.

Over 32,000 acres of beautiful forest burned along with hundreds of homes and businesses. According to the Israeli authorities, the fires began because of a very long dry spell and high winds, but were exacerbated by Palestinian and Arab-Israeli arsonists with nationalist motives. While 29 have been arrested for arson, investigations continue.

Last Friday, Israel’s Public Security Ministry requested help from the “Emergency Volunteers Project,” a network of over 950 American volunteers and professional first responders. Many Israeli firefighters had been fighting the blazes for 90 hours straight and appreciated the American help so they could rest.

Elan Raber, Jewish, flew in Sunday morning from Los Angeles, where he works for the Los Angeles City Fire Department. He was familiar with the station at Petach Tivkah because he trained there with the Emergency Volunteers Program. Raber was born in Israel and served in the Israel Defense Forces and views being in Israel as “part of his calling,” According to The Times of Israel.

Israeli Athletes Win Olympic Medals in Rio

Yarden Gerbi won a Bronze Medal in the Women's 63 KG category and Or Sasson also won a Bronze Medal in the 100 kg plus division in the Judo competition at this year's Olympic competition in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Sasson likened his feelings after winning his medal to "an eruption of a volcano. It happened at the right time," he told Israel's Channel 10. "I am excited. I feel that I made a childhood dream come true, thanks to the people who stood there at my side. I'm proud of our country, happy for the Nation of Israel. I want to dedicate this medal to the entire People of Israel who supported me, and sent messages of encouragement." (Times of Israel)

The celebration of these achievements were tempered by demonstrations of blatant Anti-Semitism. Sasson's medal came hours after an incident involving Egyptian athlete Islam el-Shahabi, who refused to shake his hand as is customary, after Sasson defeated him in a match. The crowd responded by booing the Egyptian. Hostility and taunting by Muslim nations, of the Israeli Olympic team has triggered a reprimand from the International Olympic Committee and alarm from the Anti-Defamation League. The IOC also issued a reprimand to the head of the Lebanese Olympic delegation earlier after he blocked Israeli athletes from a bus that the teams were supposed to share to reach the opening ceremony. (INN)

Pray against the humiliation of Israel's winning athletes in the 2016 Olympic games. Pray also for the ongoing protection of tens of thousands of Jews and Israelis attending and participating in this year's Olympic games.

Americans Help Replace Guitar Destroyed in Fighting A Terrorist in Israel

According to Arutz-7 Israeli news, donors have raised almost $5,000 for Yishai Montgomery to buy a new guitar, after he broke his fighting back a terrorist on Tuesday, March 9th. Montgomery spoke with Israel’s Channel 2 news about the attack. "I had just sat down to play my guitar near the ocean when I heard screams from down the road," he explained. "He [the terrorist] jumped on the bench yelling at me and trying to stab me so I grabbed my guitar and hit him over the head with it. "He was so stunned and didn't know what to do with himself and then started running away." Two police volunteers then shot and killed the terrorist. Ed Deir, from Philadelphia, read about Montgomery's quick reaction to an approaching terrorist and set up a GoFundMe account, explaining: "I Ed Dvir of Philadelphia will speak to Yishai to find out which guitars he wants and will purchase them on his behalf in America and will deliver them to him when I go to Israel." In less than 24 hours, 213 people from around the world have contributed to the campaign. Some added short notes including "GUITAR HEROOOO!!!!!" and "Thank you for being awesome!" The Assault on Evangelical Christian Support for Israel

Yesterday, two of our Board members at Song For Israel attended a conference in West Hollywood put on by CAMERA (Committee For Accuracy in Middle East Reporting in America). It was an event that was attended by pro-Israel Christians, Catholics and Jewish people.

Speaker after gifted speaker shared their concerns that anti-Semitism is not only increasing around the world, but specifically in America. In addition, news coming to us from the Middle East is often distorted and Americans are believing the lies.

Dr. Tricia Miller, Christian Media Analyst for CAMERA, monitors Christian organizations and media activity in relation to the Arab-Israeli conflict and focuses specifically on the effects of Christian anti-Zionism on support for Israel in the Evangelical world. She shared three developments that began in 2010:

1. Christ at the Checkpoint Conference in Bethlehem -- "Christian Palestianism" abounds with those who support Christ at the Checkpoint. In essence, it is Christian anti-Semitism. Its roots come from the Bethlehem Bible College where they hold that Jesus was a Palestinian (simply because He was born in Bethlehem) and was persecuted by Jews; they compare the existence of Israel and Zionism with the swine flu and other negative comparisons.  You may read more about Christian Palestinianism and Christ at the Checkpoint by clicking here.

2. In 2010, Mart Green (one of the heirs to Hobby Lobby), produced a film called "Little Town of Bethlehem" which has a false narrative and demonizes the Jewish state. It is being shown around America in colleges and churches to undermine support for Israel.

3. "Empowered 21" whose mission statement reads: Empowered 21 is an organization that is helping shape the future of the Spirit-empowered movement throughout the world by focusing on crucial issues facing the movement and connecting generations for intergenerational blessing and impartation. Sounds harmless. Don't believe it. It is a movement toward a one-world religion with a call to unity. They demand full agreement. They demonize the Jewish people, deny the Jewish roots of Christianity, and target an Evangelical Christian audience. The movement is based in Tulsa, Oklahoma with a huge backing from Oral Roberts University (which formerly was very supportive of Israel). They now demonize the Jewish people and the state of Israel and have strong financial backing.

Dexter Van Zile is also a Christian Media Analyst for CAMERA, whose work has focused on the failure of the World Council of Churches (WCC) and other Christian institutions to address human rights abuses in Muslim-majority countries in the Middle East. He has also played a major role in exposing the errors in the Palestinian Christian narrative and has made an important contribution in the battle for accuracy in relation to Christian anti-Zionism. He taught that anti-Zionists believe that Jewish sovereignty is against God's plan. Anti-Zionists believe that Evangelical support for Israel makes Muslims less apt to convert to Christianity. He said to watch Wheaton College as many students from this college are attending Christ at the Checkpoint as advocates. He added to Dr. Miller's presentation that "Little Town of Bethlehem" (which you can Google to watch the trailer) has been applauded by Christianity Today. This film twists truth to gain momentum for the Palestinian cause. It does not present a truthful picture of what is going on in the Middle East.

Dr. Laurie Cardoza-Moore was a dynamic and passionate speaker at this conference. She has devoted her life to educating Christians about their Biblical responsibility to stand with their Jewish brethren and the State of Israel. In 2005, she became the founder and president of Proclaiming Justice to The Nations (PJTN), an organization that utilizes the powerful medium of documentary films to educate Christians and facilitate dialogue between the Christian and Jewish communities. Song For Israel purchased one such documentary called the Forgotten People, which we plan to air at one of our future events.  She reminded us that we live in challenging and sobering times and that the climax is coming. The "Elect" have been deceived. She quoted 2 Timothy 3 citing that many will turn away from their faith in these deceiving days. Many Evangelical Christians are being deceived right in their churches. She challenged everyone to KNOW the Word of God. It is the only shield we have to guard us with truth. We need to study the whole Bible...the Old Testament with the Torah and the writings of the Prophets as well as the New Testament writings. We need to understand that we as Gentiles, when we became believers in Jesus, that we came into the commonwealth of Israel....a faith with Jewish roots.

Several other speakers, including a panel, presented their findings about the increase of anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism spreading across American and landing in Evangelical churches. Christians need to know who Romans chapters 9-11 is talking about and we need to understand our Jewish roots of our faith.

Song For Israel will soon be launching a new study series called Understanding God's Eternal Plan for Israel. In small groups we will cover much of what was shared at this conference. It will give a biblical foundation of support for Israel and a love for the Jewish people. It will give a history of Jewish persecution, an understanding of Christians grafted into Jewish roots, as well as challenge Christians to become pro Israel because the Bible clearly supports that! Sign up to receive more information and watch for the date when our book will be published and available to the public.

We cannot be silent on this issue of anti-Semitism...that is what Christians did as the Nazis took over much of Europe -- demonized the Jews and then exterminated them. It began with silence; then the world watched as six million Jews were put to death -- only because they were Jewish. To be silent now invites this same horror to be repeated.  We must know what our Bible says, what we believe, and then stand for truth while we still can...while we still have a voice.

UNESCO Resolutions Against Israel

On Wednesday, October 20, 2015, UNESCO condemned Israel for continuing with archeological excavations near the Temple Mount and in other locations in Jerusalem’s Old City. Although they did not include a clause declaring the Western Wall to be exclusively a Muslim religious site, they did pass a resolution listing the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron (which Muslims refer to as the “Sanctuary of Abraham”) and Rachel’s Tomb in Bethlehem as strictly Muslim sites.  The United States and the UNESCO General Director applied intense pressure to sway the vote for the Western Wall to remain a holy site for Jews.

Pray For the Peace of Jerusalem - Psalm 122:6

Jerusalem is near and dear to the heart of God and those who love God. Scriptures teaches us to pray for Jerusalem. How should we pray? The Scripture does not spell it out, but the Holy Spirit will guide our prayers and show us how to pray.

 The Temple Mount

The Temple Mount

Some suggestions would be to pray for:

  • The people--for their safety in an area of constant unrest
  • Israel's leadership -- that they seek God's face for decisions
  • The land -- this is the land God covenanted to Israel, so we know it is important to God. Therefore, pray for fertile soil, protected borders, prosperity
  • Salvation -- Pray for salvation of not only the Jewish people, but the Gentile people living there
  • The Churches/Congregations -- that they teach the pure Word of God; are able to care for their members; that they are effective lights to those who do not know Jesus/Yeshua
  • Their enemies -- that they might see God in the nation of Israel and fear Him and come to know Him as their own Savior
  • Protection of Israel's inhabitants -- protection from rocket fire; protection from attacks from enemies hiding in tunnels; protection from suicide bombers, etc.

Anne Graham Lotz has prepared a beautiful prayer on her website: We have inserted a few paragraphs of her prayer below.

Why not take a few moments right now to PRAY FOR THE PEACE OF JERUSALEM.

We pray with compulsion for the peace of Jerusalem, and for the whole House ofIsrael. Your people and the city that bear Your name are surrounded by a vast multitude of hostile, evil men seeking to kill and destroy.  Men who behead those who refuse to embrace their evil dogma, who bury alive those who refuse to submit to their will, who crucify those who are identified with Your Son.  And now these demonic forces are on the verge of being equipped with nuclear weapons and with WMD’s, such as mustard and sarin gas. Your people are subjected to the continuing barrage of enemy missiles and mortars that are destroying farms and families, communities and children.  While one ceasefire after another promises peace, when Israel’s land is divided and surrendered for peace, when people cry out for peace, peace, there is no peace.  Are You not the God who rules over all the nations?  Power and might are in Your hand, and no one can withstand You.

We are compelled to pray for Your people because they are facing their enemies without the strength, wisdom, peace, comfort, security and hope that You reserve for those who are indwelt by Your Spirit through faith in Your Son, Jesus.  They have no deep, blessed assurance that their sins are forgiven, that eternal life is theirs, and that a heavenly Home is waiting to welcome them.

We are compelled to pray because…

  • You have promised that You will give Your people a new heart and put a new spirit within them; that You will remove their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.4
  • You have promised that in the very last days, You will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and supplication.5
  • You have promised that You will open the eyes of the spiritually blind, and they would look on You, the One they have pierced.6
  • You have promised that all of Israel, tribe by tribe, clan by clan, family by family, will mourn for their sin of rebellion and rejection of their Messiah.
  • You have promised that on that day of national mourning and repentance, all of Israel will be saved. That the deliverer will come from Zion; that You will turn godlessness away from Jacob.7
  • You have promised that You will save them from all their sinful backsliding, and You will cleanse them.8
  • You have promised that they will be Your people, and You will be their God.9
  • You have promised that You will make an everlasting covenant of peace with them.10
  • You have promised that one day, and we believe soon, You will set aside 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel who have been redeemed and on whose foreheads You write Your name, to be proclaimers of the Gospel to the whole world.11
  • You have promised that You will go out and fight against the nations that come against Your people; that You will set Your feet on the Mount of Olives once again; that you will be king over the whole earth.12

O Abba Father! We do not ask for what we want or what we hope.  We are asking You to do whatYou have said! You are a great covenant-keeping God.  You do not mock Your children. You keep Your word. We are therefore compelled at this moment when faced with problems that have no human solution to pray and hold You to Your promises.

We pray with clarity. We ask, great Creator God, that You give sight to those born spiritually blind. Open the eyes of Your people to see You for who You truly are. Don’t let their sight be dimmed or distorted by centuries of religiosity and rejection of the Truth. Open their eyes to Jesus as their Messiah. Then show up in great power, giving Your people supernatural strength to withhold vengeance, to execute justice, to remember mercy, to walk humbly as they acknowledge that victory will be won not by their might nor by their own power, but by Your Spirit.16 Yet we do ask You for victory over the enemy…

We pray for the enemies who are coming against Jerusalem to be convicted of their sin, for them to repent and turn from it and ask You for forgiveness through faith in Jesus Christ.  But if they do not, we ask that this day, You defeat and destroy them.

We ask that You strip Jerusalem’s enemies of peace and cooperation among themselves, so that they are divided and turn on each other.

We ask that their evil plans would be exposed or fall back on the enemy’s own head.

We ask that the face of every man, woman or child that they have slaughtered, beheaded, buried, or crucified be indelibly imprinted on their mind’s eye, filling them with turmoil and robbing them of clear thinking.17

We ask that for every man, woman or child who is martyred for their faith in You, ten others would rise up to take their place, so that the persecution would fan revival fires throughout the Middle East. Please, dear Jesus, keep showing up in dreams and visions and in any form You choose in order to change hearts and minds, melting generations of prejudice and hatred with Your love and peace.

We ask that the fear of the One, True, Living God would fall on Israel’s neighbors…and on Israel.18

We ask that the ancient prince of the Persian kingdom and every other demonic force coming against Your City be bound and rendered powerless in the face of the hosts of Heaven.19

We ask that the Iron Dome would be 100% effective in the north as well as in the south, and that You would continue to anoint Israel’s engineers and physicists with ability to design systems that would provide a protective shield for The Beautiful Land.

We ask for supernatural wisdom for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, his Cabinet, his counselors, and all government officials, so that they make decisions in line with Your perfect will. Draw the Prime Minister into Your Word. And then, when he opens and reads it, speak to him through it.

 The Knesset

The Knesset

We ask that You intervene to give President Reuven Rivlin and Prime Minister Netanyahu a shared vision and agreed-upon steps to accomplish it so that Israel has clear, unified leadership during these dangerous days.

We ask that You turn the heart of The Honorable Nir Barkat, Jerusalem’s mayor, toward You; that he would acknowledge his need of You and re-issue a city-wide call to prayer.

We ask that You comfort the mothers, fathers, and children living in the farming communities near the Gaza border.  Give them an overwhelming sense of Your presence and love for each of them. As they turn to You, give them peace…and a good night’s sleep.

We ask that You bless The Beautiful Land and all those who live there, both Jews and Arabs, with Your peace.

We ask especially that You woo Your people to Yourself.  Draw them to put their trust in You, so that You are their refuge and their fortress.  Save them.  Cover them.  Be with them in trouble. Command Your angels to guard them and keep them in all their ways.20

You are a great prayer-hearing, prayer-answering, covenant-keeping, miracle-working God. Hear our prayer!  Listen to Your children as we pray for the peace of the city on which You have placed Your name.  Rise up, great Lion of Judah, and defend Your people. Deliver Jerusalem from her enemies so that all the nations of the earth may know that You alone are God. Answer us!  For the glory of Your great name!

We will pray until our prayers are confirmed, because we believe in You.  We believe that Jerusalem’s God is God.  We believe You are as strong today on her behalf as You were in the beginning, and always have been, and always will be. We believe that since the first day we set our minds to gain understanding and to humble ourselves before our God, our words have been heard.21 Because our words are based on Your words. We believe that we have asked according to Your will, in the name of Your dear Son, and for His glory alone.  Therefore we expect to receive answers.22

Now we await Your confirmation.  We have prayed for the peace of Jerusalem. We don’t know what else to do. But our eyes are fixed expectantly on You.23

For the Glory of Yeshua

More Sirens Sound in Israel as Another Rocket Hits

In the past two weeks, there have been three incidents of rockets being fired from Gaza into Israel by Hamas. The most recent rocket landed in an open area near Ashkelon on Saturday. Ashkelon is about 10 miles from the Gaza border. The bomb shelter we are working to provide is only two miles from the Gaza border. The girls at the Eden Center heard the sirens and ran for what protection they could find.

Could this be a precursor to what happened last summer when Israel and Hamas fought a deadly war in which more than 2,100 Palestinians and 72 Israelis were killed? The mayor in Ashkelon is cautioning that Israel is facing the "moment of truth" regarding Gaza. The Israeli government has urged the Palestinians to stop the trickle of rocket fire before the situation deteriorates.

Israel has vowed a "zero tolerance" against attacks and an immediate response to rocket fire. If rockets continue to invade Southern Israel, the summer of 2015 could look much like the summer of 2014, unfortunately. Please pray that this escalation does not occur and pray for peace in the area.

The girls at the Eden Center are so close to the border that they have only 7 seconds to find shelter. We have collected $10,500 toward the $14,000 bomb shelter that is needed for their protection. Our campaign ends June 12th. Won't you consider making a tax-free donation to help us complete the goal and save lives? Three Weeks Left in our Israel Bomb Shelter For Abused Girls Campaign

The project in Israel that we support is called the Eden Center for girls, ages 12 - 18, who have been removed from abusive situations only to find themselves a short two miles from Gaza. Being that close to Gaza gives the girls only a quick 7-second run, once the siren sounds, to make a run for a bomb shelter for safety. During non-war times, they continue to experience one or two rockets headed in their direction per week.

Regular and frequent rocket fire from Hamas-controlled Gaza into the waters of the Mediterranean Sea indicate the steady buildup and recovery of the terrorist organization's weapons stockpiles, reports Shmuel Bowman, Director of Operation Lifeshield. Shmuel met with Israeli Navy soldiers yesterday who confirmed that they personally witnessed  Hamas exercises involving the firing of rockets into the sea, which clearly indicates an eventual plan to initiate another round of violence against Israeli communities.  They are monitoring the situation closely and are actively doing as much as possible to help prepare for fresh rocket attacks.

Our campaign to help the girls will be completed in only three weeks when we will personally present a check to Shmuel Bowman at Operation Lifeshield, who will install the shelter at the Eden Center.

Please watch the video below and then plan to make a donation to help us reach our goal. This shelter will cost $14,000 and we have collected $9,750 to date! We need your help before another war breaks out or a rocket hits the middle of the Eden Center and takes the life of a young girl. Click here to donate. (Please write "Bomb Shelter" on your donation for this project).

Song For Israel Celebrates FOUR Years!

Today, May 3, 2015, Song For Israel celebrates its fourth year! We've grown and hit our stride! Please celebrate some of our four-year highlights below. Please leave a comment if you participated in our events! Happy Birthday, Song For Israel!

Song For Israel Sponsors "Walk For Israel" on Israel's Independence Day

Thursday, April 23rd, 2015, was Israel's Independence Day and over thirty participated in a "Walk For Israel" on a busy street in Yorba Linda.  We received many, many honks and waves in support of Israel as we walked. Check out the photos below.

KBRT Radio (740 AM) interviewed several on the "Walk" and we hope to hear about it on the air!

I Believe in Jesus, but I Never "Converted" - How?

I was born Jewish and when I was 18 I confessed faith in Yeshua, Jesus, as the Messiah--but I never converted. How is that possible? Join me as I explore what "Converted" actually means!

The word ‘convert‘ in modern vernacular means to leave one’s religion for another. So when Jewish people hear you speak of converting from Judaism to Christianity, they hear you asking them to betray their heritage, religion and people. However the New Covenant writers and evangelists NEVER asked Jewish people to convert to a new religion, but to believe in the Messiah. Watch this YouTube!

Two Men From Gaza

Last night I was delighted to meet two men, both born in Gaza, both raised Palestinians, both whose lives were changed by meeting Jesus Christ!

It was in a crowded home filled with curious people of all ages. Before the two men shared their stories, delicious Arab foods were served and conversations began. When the meal was finished, the honored guests began.

Tass Saada, born in Gaza, raised in Saudi Arabia as a Palestinian refugee, ran away from home at age 17 to fight in Gaza as a PLO sniper, fighting against the Jew.  Tass was raised to hate the Jews.

 Tass Saada

Tass Saada

For Tass, his childhood memories included visits in his home with leaders such as Osama Bin Ladin and Yassir Arafat. It was during one of those visits that Yassir Arafat recruited Tass as his personal chauffeur. He was later chosen by Arafat to be trained as an assassain, and eventually awarded the nickname "Butcher."

Even though he hated America and Americans, in 1974 he came to the United States to get an education, hoping he could fight the Jews better with his brain. He felt that Americans treated him well and this surprised him, so he decided to stay. He felt the quickest way to become a citizen was to marry, so he found a bride rather quickly and married.

Once married, Tass' father cut off financial support, so Tass began working as a dishwasher at an upscale French restaurant. He was shocked that at the first table he cleared as a busboy, the guest thanked him for taking his dirty dishes. Tass was used to abusing the help, not thanking them. He decided to be very kind to this man. Later he learned the man was a multi-billionaire.

In 1993, Tass was confronted about his lack of fear of God. Although he worshipped Allah, his friend challenged him and told him that the identity of Allah, whom he worshipped--was the God of Abraham, Isaac, Ishmael and Jacob--whom the Islamists have rejected. He was told that he could not hate the Jews. His response was, "The only Jew is a dead Jew." His friend shared the Love of Jesus Christ and the gospel and Tass experienced a radical salvation experience. He was told that Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the light. No one comes to the Father, but through Me." (John 14:6)

While Tass was studying his Bible as a new believer, he ran across Matthew 5:43-44, where Jesus said, "You have heard that it was said, 'You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.' But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you." He wondered how he could ever love the Jews. But God changed his heart.

Now, many years later, Tass and his wife are in ministry together, serving Jesus Christ. Their goal is to reconcile Arabs and Jews to the Father. Once they are reconciled to the Father, it is so much easier to be reconciled to one another.

Read more about his story in his book, Once An Arafat Man.

The second gentleman at the gathering heads up the Voice of the Refugees headquartered in Anaheim. Also a Palestinian Arab born in Gaza, he shared about his life and how he came to a place where he found salvatin in Jesus Christ. His nonprofit Voice of the Refugees mobilizes local resources in order to fully engage and assist Middle Eastern (mostly Arab) refugees, to establish them in Orange County. They share the love of Christ and the gospel with each person or family and he says "we have a 100% success rate. We share the gospel with each encounter." He says it is up to the Holy Spirit to do the rest. You can learn more about this local ministry at

God is working in the hearts of those born in Gaza. Although at the moment they all appear to be enemies of Israel, God is still doing a mighty and miraculous work among the Arabs. We are encouraged, as Tass quoted, to "love our enemies" and I agree with him that the only way the Jews and Arabs will find peace among one another is if they have peace with God, the Father. Please pray for the Arab people, that they also will find this to be true.

A Greater Threat--From the North

Below is a letter received from Sally, from our partner congregation in Israel:

Shalom from Kfar Saba!,

I want to update you and give you prophetic perspective from here in Israel.

Last week, once again, Hamas and Israel agreed to a temporary cease fire.  This time it is for 30 days to discuss long-lasting peace.  Interestingly enough, this cease fire was executed exactly 30 days from Rosh Hashanah, which begins September 24th.   If you recall, one of the plans that the Israeli military confiscated, was the plan to cause a pogrom on Israel and her people, to be executed on Rosh Hashanah of this year.  It was to be done through the tunnels that were discovered, and would have involved murder, kidnappings of women and children, and complete devastation to our communities next to Gaza.  Through this discovery, we can only hope that this plan was thwarted.  But only prayer and time will tell.  As of this writing, the cease fire from Gaza is holding.

A new front is in our midst, and that is up North.  Some fear this will be far more devastating to our nation as it involves Hezbollah and Isis.  Already there are rockets flying indiscriminately from Syria and involving the United Nations Peace Keeping forces.  Our forces are prepared, and our people are ready. Now we just wait on the God of Israel, Who never slumbers nor sleeps to watch over us.

While this has certainly been an unusual summer, God is doing amazing miracles!  We have had a few religious Jews come to faith by a dream in the night, and are sharing with others about their new found faith.  In addition, our next generation is responding to your prayers and is developing deeper relationships with Yeshua and each other.

Here are a few prayer points:

  • For God to protect us from terrorist attacks from the south, north and Samaria (just a few days ago, there was a terrorist attack at a border crossing 2 km from us in Kakilia.)
  • For God to direct you and us how to pray for our safety and protection and provision during this time.
  • For our children to be safe in schools and to be a light to those who are fearful due to this summer’s war.
  • For those who are impacted by the war, to be healed from the shock and trauma.

I look forward to what He has in store!

Love you
