Egypt Launches an Airstrike in Sinai
For the first time in almost 40 years, the Egyptian military launched an offensive strike in the Sinai Peninsula on Wednesday. The strike occurred just three days after 16 Egyptian soldiers were killed by Islamists in an attack that was a threat to the Egypt/Israel borders. The last time the air force launched attacks over the Sinai were during the 1973 War with Israel. Apparently Israel blessed the attack this week and Egypt is more aggressively addressing the rise of extremism along the border.
